well here is my like 3rd or 4th attempt at this thing.. using Ed Giddings schems and renders as my primary references so thanks to ed for that...
erm.. well hers a 1024x768 render of it so far all in all has taken me about 6 hours to get it to this stage after numerous re-models of certain areas..
oh btw the big engine at the back in the middle is just a place holder

That was a rhetorical question. The fighter is indeed capable of fighting in space. We've seen it open fire in space at least once--in an episode of Stargate Atlantis (the one there the Daedalus was infected with a virus).

Indeed. (Pun intended)
I mean, the engineers must have seen the device and mostlikly thought:
Engineer 1: Hey Bob, there is this little device here, what should I do?
Engineer 2: See if you can take it out Bob.
Engineer 1: Ok Bob... Done, hey all still works Bob!
Engineer 2: So it doesn't have any purpose?
Engineer 1: Looks like it, though it does have this pictogram of what could look like a symbol for a return home device with the reason to kill if the traitor is behind the wheel.
Engineer 2: How do you know Bob?
Engineer 1: I'm the biggest Egyptologist (sp) in the world.
Engineer 2: So why are you here?
Engineer 1: I did a "How to learn xenomechanics in 12 hours" course.
Engineer 2: What do you recommend?
Engineer 1: We put it back in.
Engineer 2: Ok. Btw, how do you do the eyes? Must be handy when reading in bed.
Engineer 1: I'm not sure, must have been something I ate.
Ok, lot's of semi off topic talk.
To get back on topic, I like the model DaAan (btw, did you do any models from that serie with the alien DaAan?)!

Sorry about that, I think my mind was buckling, or atleast in overdrive...
I think I was thinking along the lines of:
If you need to reverse engineer an alien piece of equipment, then I would take out every part each and see if it still turned on or not.
And surely most parts would then be defined to have a certain function.
The device (I assume it was one) to take care of Teal'c wouldn't have matterd if it was out or in (it wouldn't seem smart if it was tied into all systems) so why bother putting it in if it doesn't matter?

23,000 polys?! Where are all these polys, exactly? Could you give us some close-up shots of the details?

I'm surprised, and disappointed that nobody has had a crack at the Daedalus class ships yet. | I'm sure someone's working on one.

Tha'ts a really beauty you got there.
some guy was braggin' on bcfiles in the x-303 comments that he's submitted a pack of sg-1/atlantis ships. Daedalus was in there.
Should i laugh at him??? Or can a filestaff confirm it???

That should be easily reducable if you make a quick texture and put it onto a normal cylinder. It doesn't look like you have thousands of greebles or smoothing to take off if you want it in-game.

I agree with Armond, mostly of your edges seem to be sharp, so it should not be a major issue if you wan to put it ingame.
