not quite for learning's sake... and dunno if it'll ever be good enough to be released though.
based directly on Malcolm Lu's Majestic class from treknology...

This is actually quite good for a first time model. Keep it up. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

well i'm pretty much just starting out. i've been messing around with existing models for yonks but never got around to making one for myself from scratch. it also turns out that kaden and galen are working on a slightly altered version over at sfm though that probably wont be BC-able.
this is the 3rd iteration of it though. it just never quite comes out right so any critique or general pointers would be very much appreciated.

actually i think that is some kind of observation lounge... or the main sensor array. there's about 2.5 more decks to be added

thanks.
Not much of an update for today. The bridge/command desks of the saucer section were starting to get on my nerves so i've moved on to some bits of the spine for now:
an observation lounge and what looks to be the main cargo loading & storage area.

more random bits added today: crystalline armour energy dumps (the greeny/blue things) and started on the deflector area.
currently approaching 6k triangles but there's a lot i think i can get rid off.

For today's update I went on a culling spree and have gone from yesterday's 5716 to less than half at 2641.
I think it still looks alright though I may need to touch up some of the sharper bits around the rim of the saucer section later on...

The only thing I don't like is that deflector...doesn't look right.

yeah i think the deflector shroud is really bad but i'm going to leave it as is until i've got enough of the engineering hull finished to have a more solid connection to the rest of the ship instead of the rather abstract "bits&pieces" state of things...

thanks
i've seen some of it over at SFM...
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25381
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26316
which was also where i noticed that galen = malcolm... whom i emailed asking for permissions about the version posted at treknology and i've sent him the link for this thread already.
the redesigned one looks nice. it seems to be slightly simpler overall and a bit more streamlined. was actually considering asking you lot if i could use the design for that stealthy little captain's yatch for her as well. and of course i'd welcome any input either of you can provide.

Had a go at the boat neck.
Redid the deflector shroud which still isn't quite right but it's a lot better than it used to be.
Started playing around with some nacelles... I quite like the front end but the rest is still :barf:
Anyone have any ideas what i can do with the deflector area?
