The saucer looks like the one of the Hecate now.

I was refering to Dol Phoenix design posted at the previous page, but now it looks different, more like an hecate like Devron said.
Some more shots of the evolution in my concept.
Following still the same direction of making a classic galaxy into a battleship, and adding the carrier idea for the saucer.
The saucer was refined and got the nacelles with the correct concept. The front of it also become more rounded almost intrepid like.
Other important thing is the visible shuttlebays in the bottom of the saucer.

WOW! This ship JUST keeps getting better and better!!
But aren't the nacelles just a TINY bit too fat horizontally?

They keep the same overall dimensions from the original galaxy nacelles, possibly that effect was caused because the saucer is much smaller.

wow, that ship is really coming along. the altered phasers help bring back a sense of consistant form, the old ones made the sliceing of the saucer very obvious. the new saucer nacelles are way better too. ranvens ship is really starting to look like those jpegs we saw from that artist. any chance he would let you use the model officially. as for me, im gonna persist and make that galaxy concept, if your short on ships that is, lol.

Yes, the main target for this model is still BC2, the ship need to evolve a bit more, but i'm confident Raven will end up liking it, when i start redoing it.
Remember that so far, this is a bash of Scotchy's galaxy and CG sov, and i don't plan using it.
Also, the polycount is very high and will be lowered to the current bc2 stands i'm keeping.

umm, you mean me? I'm not sure who's design you're talking about, but I THINK it was me who started it all off about having a Galaxy refit in the first place!
IF you meant me, I would be OVERJOYED if someone ACTUALLY DID a design concept that I started off!! (in other words, YES!)

I thought about that.. but apart the sov small addictions (to cover holes in the ship use), it's not related directly to the sov, only a refit of the original galaxy.
Also, the sov impulse engines are too low to fit the modified galaxy saucer.. i tried.
Anyway, the engines may look a bit more like the sov ones when i redo the saucer.

Scotchy's galaxy has about 12k.
However we consider reasonable around 6-7k.

Excellent work. Here is the latest on the mesh I am working on. I am working on half of it, and the polys aren't lined up, hence the open seam. Just ignore it for the moment. You get the idea.........it still needs alot of work.

Very nice Raven. When you posted the change of the forward lip of the saucer section being cut out I wasn’t to sure I liked it, but I have to admit the change is growing on me now. Good work!

Ugh. Raven, that looks horrible. You need to smooth that out. ALOT. I like LC's version the best.

I like the smoothed out saucer on LC's much better than before. However, I think the details need to be changed. Think about the consitution refit and how that changed.
However, Raven's Sov-styled saucer I really like, you've kept a near identical galaxy shape but changed the details and the construction. If you could combine aspects of both or even make two ships... or two saucers, since they're supposed to be interchangeable now.

Well, hopefully this is better. I smoothed it first before I took the shots so you could see how it would probably look before the textures. I still cannot fix the dark areas on the hull sides, but eventually I will figure it out.

how do you get the colours for the detail? is it seperate shapes or a poly colour tool i don't know about?!?
anyways!! the galaxy refit is looking to be a great ship for bc2!! will there be a way to script mvam into reconecting your ship with any saucers in your area allowing for the mix and match saucers?

I use the material editor and poly select to assign colors to specific polys. It is a very basic method, but building the mesh alone does not give enough information to the modelers. I need to show some details.
I would like to do the MVAM thing.

He needs to make this one. I love it. And I've been able to peek at the version with the closed warp gates on the saucer. All I can say is SWEET.

Any updates on this ship at all?
Anyway, I've only just noticed something about that latest design...
It actually looks a little like a mixture of the Steamrunner (2 red... things at the front), the Akira (shape of the saucer), the Ambassador (the way the Nacelle pilons seem to look), and the Sovereign (with the bridge area, and that) - not to mention the Galaxy herself, lol
looks mighty awesome though! Worthy enough to bear the class as a true Galaxy Refit.
One last thing though, I think the back end needs some more detail to it, and perhaps more smoothing out there too.

You should hear about it's textures soon.
