Working on a model that's using IK chains and a few other things to make it walk about. The geeks among you should know what it is

Inverse Kinematics... is that something like making an animation via other pre-programed animations? IE: If one thing moves a certain wait, then something else will move a certain way depending on how the first thing moved... or something?

Added feet and hydraulic pipes to it. That makes the legs finished. There's one glitch in the animation that seemed to escape my attention before rendering but other than that, I'm happy. Next up, the body and weapons.

It's fixed in the current animation setup. I'm going through it very carefully to iron out any potential problems. So far, it's walking very smoothly.
The only problem still irking me a little is that the legs are slightly too long compared to the original minature (which is very stubby). But due to all the pistons in that area, it would be a complete hassle to correct it completely. My other problem is that I haven't gone through and surfaced it properly... meaning I can't do textures just yet. I might try to go as close to completion on this as possible, it's been a very enjoyable project so far.

Done part of the sarcophagus. There's some detailing to do around it, then the remaining greebles down the sides, the engines at the back and finally, arms and everyone's favourite part... WEAPONS!
As a note, the sculpture on the front isn't the best ever. I can use the excuse that the cartoony skulls are just a nod to 2nd Ed. models.

The torso is as complete as I need it to be. Did another video. The problems in the animation are sorted. The only glitch I can still see is some kind of error with one of the hydraulic pipes, not sure what's causing it, probably bones being retarded. The JOLT! plug-in has been very useful in making the camera shake nicely.
Next up, arms and weapons... except... I'm off home tomorrow afternoon so won't be doing any more until the new year!

A shot of the engines at the back. Still... just arms and weapons to go.... so much to do and no time to do it in. 17 minute render times, I'll have you know... Don't say I don't do anythning for you These are the best quality previews I've ever posted... (it has to say something at least).
EDIT: Also included is a render of the front. The huge black square is what I put in front of the camera to make it fade in and out (as seen in the most recent video) in place of a decent plug in to do it automatically.
Note the cartoon skulls which look more like Death of Rats everytime I look at them... ...

Actually, come to think of it. How did you guess Dreadnaught straight away? Are you some kind of extra Uber Geek or is it really that obvious?
... President of SF&F still I assume?

I'd have said Dreadnaught as well, but that's because I own two of them which I spent some considerable time painting.

Geeks of the world unite!!
Incidentally, there is a really good vid of a dreadnaught moving and shooting hanging around on YouTube somewhere. The link is in the W40K group thread at SFM but I don't have time or the connection speed (since I'm at home) to find it right now. It's well ace and worth searching for.

I've made a preview vid, it beats waiting hours and hours for a full one to render out. Nearly finished the assault cannon (just realised I have to do the ammo feed bit), just starting on the power fist now.

I also need an idea of what to do with the power fist once it's done. I can do the grab 'n' smash move on an Ork but A) The Ork will be a project that's almost bigger than the dreadnaught itself and B) we've seen it done. So I'm thinking of having it pull down a wall before firing the assault cannon. Any thoughts?

Would that be HOT, Dreadnaught on Dreadnaught action? Sounds like an explicit opportunity for power fisting, if I ever heard one!
