In the spirit of kick-starting the forums again, here are some of the latest shots of what I've been working on most recently.
I'm still working on the areas behind the main mast.

Current polycount is 17.3k, but I'm expecting the final count to be in the region of 30k.
This is the miniature i'm using as a refference, pics of my efforts are attatched below.

The reason I haven't updated recently is because I've moved home from university. I've been relaxing instead.
Might get some work done in a few days.

Oxford is always more work, mostly because they compress it into a shorter term rather than give you anything more difficult than any other university. Engineering vs Chemistry, they're both pretty intense science subjects.


I was about to say something stupid along the lines
of "John, how are you taking chemistry, I can't remember you taking A-Level chemistry with me..." Then I remembered the obvious.

Heh. Its a pretty common feeling it seems. I can't see how someone can be a chemist.

It is of course a vital line of work....just seems to me to be extremely boring punctuated by either death or extreme breakthroughs.

update! Very nearly finished, just working on the bridge and forward thingies on the wings. (what the hell are they anyway?)

oh yes, and at 30k polys, LC reckons he can get it ingame.

In game sounds good. Though getting it the right scale will be tough. Not sure what "forward thingys" you mean, but if I did, I'm sure I could find out for you.

They're probably something to do with the warp transition engines or the gellar fields. Either that or sensors.

I always thought they were forward facing weapons. Other Imperial ships (40k scale) tend to have wing mounted weapons of some kind.

No, in game terms imperial ships have no forward facing weapons that aren't spine or prow mounted. Otherwise I'd have guessed that too.

My resident 40K experts have little clue, so I'd put it down to "cool looking pointy bits". It's not Star Trek after all.
