I've been here at BCU almost four months and I have to say that there has been some phenomenal mods been released in that time. So then I thought why doesn't the guys at BCU have some kind of awards ceremony (or thread, or something!?) once a year, where the best mods get reviewed and honoured.
Perhaps it could be put into categories such as best ship, best modder 2005/06,best bridge, best mod package etc.
With all the great mods that have been showcased here over the past few months I think some proper recognition is in order...
What do you folks think!?

I'm strongly against that idea. If someone wins, by definition another one has to lose. We each have our favorite mods, and most us can agree on the best of the best.
An award is unnecessary, and in my opinion, it'll likely create animosity among members of the community. I don't want to go in that direction.

have to agree with Phaser on that one, modding is a hobby not a competition...
The (Good) comments and the download number are the recognition.

...and then the great modders won't band together and create an even amazing mod

Pretty much the only "Main" ST ships that don't have one "outstanding" model are the Intrepid, Nebula and NX Classes (although NX has outstanding texures and parts of the model). Virtually all the others have one "high-poly" version that will always get voted "best".
Non-canon ships totally depend on personal taste, so that is not a good choice for awards.
Bridges are only made by the few bridge gods, no "competition" (well, modding has nothing to do with competition anyway, but you know what I mean)
Scripts depends on what they do and how noticable they are. The foundation, in theory, is the "best" script mod out there (because all others depend on it) but it would be nowhere near the best voted script.
So, basically, awards are a bad idea.
