Well, I guess canon evidence would be that they ALWAYS raised the nacelles to a different position each time they went to warp. So I'd say yes to the question....

Im saying yes Elm, mainly coz all we have ever seen is them raised when she goes to warp, so why change it.

Both
EDIT: My point is, in the series the only time they have ever had the nacelles in raised position is when going to warp. If in BC you can fly around as you want with the nacelles up, then I would say disable everything except for the warp engines so that the only thing you can do in raised mode IS go to warp...

why not disable phasers? phaser don't usually fire at warp anyway? maybe handicap maneuverability as well since th eimpulse engines are on the pylons....and you don't do complex maneuvers at warp...

That isn't exactely true
I saw ones a episode tha voyager was hiding righ behind a big vessel so the sensor wouldn't pick them up and right before the drop out of warp voyager shoots phasers at the warp engines so they couldn't be followed
So my point is that you can fire phasers in warp

I'd enable them. Clearly they can fire at warp. Look at the Nebbie in "Ship in a Bottle." I would think that if a Nebbie could fir while at warp, so could an Intrepid.
Also, I voted no. Intrepid class starship raise and lower their nacelles to alter the warp field geometry, so that it is most effecient for their speed and environment. There is no reason why they can not use them lowered. We always saw voyager raise them, but there's a good reason for this.
There were only a handful of effects shot ever taken of voyager going into warp, they get re-used alot! Besides, I doubt that the writers or Paramount cares very much if voyager is using its most efficient warp model.

This is for you guys who are going to be playing the mod, which I'd like to be as balanced and realistic (within the confines of BC) as possible.
Equally, whats the point of MVAMing to the new geometry if the ship can warp in any config, kind of defeats the object. |
Agreed. When the cut scene sequence kicks in, it's not like the ship is firing any weapons? When you use the MVAM option, your basicly switching from one model to another. But I would not want to warp in to the enemy camp with no weapons to speak of? I would say keep the Phaser option open, but disable the impulse engiens. That would be in keeping with Canon ST: Voyager.
I never seen an Intrepid Class flying around at impulse speeds with her nacelles raised.

I'd like to point out that just cuz we've never seen something happen, doesn't mean it can't. Leaves us open to some artistic discretion. Personally, I don't really care if the engines go up or down. I suppose if the purpose is to incorporate an MVAMI script, then hey, go for it. Should look cool!
