Ok, after answering this question myself on three different occasions (a quick search found several threads on this... 3 here in the Tech Forum), Dave and I decided it'd be best to create a sticky for it.

If you're getting the "BCMP is missing Core Files, please install the FULL version of BCMP" error from BCMP even after installing the full version, the most likely cause is that your missing the Microsoft Scripting Files.

Yess!!!

This one really works for me!! I had the core files error and now it's gone.....Hooray!!!
Very much thanks for this, although i had to search very long for this.
I'm very happy now.... i can add new ships now again......

The downloaded file might be corrupted. Redownload it and see if you can open it.

i know im sorta reviving the thread but bcmp still refuses to work. i made a mistake and installed the win98 version but i installed the xp version over that. i hop i didnt mess everything up

/edit: also when ever i try to install th xp package it says "error registering the ocx C:\WINDOWS\system32\jscrpt.dll

Well, if it works, then you haven't.

Uninstall and delete any remaining files if it does.

Then install the right version.

I thought there only was 1 version though...

srry about the vague post. what i ment to say is that i accidentally installed the windows 98 script thing before i installed the xp scirpt thing. then when i installes the xp script thin it gave the before mentioned error.
btw everythings fine now. I was using someone elses log in and it only works in mine
