Firstly -
BC2 will be a large mod, mainly consisting of a lot of Star Fleet Marine Corps ships that have been designed by Raven Night with a few from other races in the Star Trek Universe.
As it takes a long time to make the ca.100 ships that have been designed, yet alone texture, code and test them. These are likely to be released one at a time or in small packs as they are done. We believe this is better than waiting for years to have everything done. Various other mods that we want to incorporate into the project will be released in a similar manner.
Release Date
In conclusion, there is no release date. However, it may be a few months yet. Our original date was well over a year ago, but several events out of our control has forced this back.
-Nightsoft downtime. The hurricanes that hit florida a few years ago basically trashed the Nightsoft office. This is the main reason BC2 fell dramatically behind, the company are now just recovering, and even then, Raven needs to concentrate on running this company for a profit. Therefore, we lost our head of development and fell back dramatically.
-Time. Raven has a company to run, LC has a full time job, I do the second most time intensive degree course in the UK etc. etc. etc. Hence, we rarely have.
-People. This one is a shameless plug. If you want to bring this date forward like we all want to, please visit the modding and graphics forums where you can find links to tutorials and software that you'll need to make simple or complex mods. It takes relatively little experience to start and build a simple ship and help is always available here if you ask.
Remember: BC2 NEEDS YOU!

Well put Armondikov, and as an addition I would ask a simple question - Would people prefer a product that isn't up to the expectations we've all come to have seeing the work thats been going on, or would we rather wait and have that quality??
My own answer is simply that I'm willing to wait as long as necessary.
Also I reckon many would have noticed (as I have) that Raven himself has learnt to texture to a very high degree in the past 12 months, so the lost year hasn't been, in retrospect, lost (as far as I'm concerned).
Kudoes especially to the team and at least this project is still well in the works, (Unlike others I've seen in the past).

Well, since BC is essentially the most successful ST game of recent times I think we're in no rush to beat the competition.

I would like to add a few points.
BC2 will be a release over time mod, meaning that as components are completed (NanoFX, Models, Systems, ETC) they will be released. The final download will be the scripts and missions, and the graphics (GUI) overhaul. This will reduce the total download and allow people to get things like the models right now as opposed to later.
Now that I can actually model, Armondikov and I should be able to button up the modeling part. I need him for the high detail CG sequences, and I can throw together the game meshes.
So, I would say about 18 months remaining for the mod to be completely done.

So what you mean is that we look up the Mods on BCfiles with "BC2" in the name?

Some would consider it rude to bump old threads.

Well, we have to take into account that it's being developed in small pieces quite slowly at the moment. You'll be waiting years if you just want a full one piece download.
