Welcome to CAL Designs Custom Paintshop, my new home for painting and tips. Thanks for stopping in. I'm hoping to use this site not only as a showcase for the work I do, but also as a resource for other painters - both new and old. Additionally, I hope to provide an avenue for those of you who would like a paint scheme for yourself. My painting is focused on Papyrus' NASCAR Racing family of games, in particular NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, to include Project Wildfire's excellent additions and modifications for the software. I've been painting since 1999, but since I made the move to Team LightSpeed, haven't maintained my own site. Instead displaying and interacting on the LightSpeed forums. You'll continue to find me there.

Again, thanks for stopping in and I hope you'll come back from time to time and watch this site grow. - Curt

Site news and updates:

24 April 2004 Been on hiatus for the last three weeks, due largely to problems with SportPlanet's ftp and not being able to get access to the server. I'm quickly getting caught up on some other projects I needed to get handled and hoping to be able to open back up for requests here in the next week or two. I did a new scheme that I will be running with Project Wildfire to the gallery. It's a Target Superman Chevy truck and is really just my TransAm Jaguar scheme on a truck with minor modifications.

4 April 2004 Got to spend some time today updating some of the pages on the site. I've added examples of driver suits and a template to the download page and more links to the web links section. To include other racing sites you might find handy if you're looking for painting inspiration.

3 April 2004

Phew... I've painted 12 schemes by request in the last month and think the creative juices may have just run dry. If there's any left, they'll be on break while I go chase golf balls around the pasture. I've also been offered the chance to beta test for Project Wildfire and will be starting that in the next week. What time I do have left, I'll be working on rounding out the remainder of this website.

Posted two paint schemes in the gallery.

28 March 2004

One more paint request done and a conversion. Both have been added to the gallery.

27 March 2004

I'm slowly but surely getting caught up on the requests and added a new truck that I painted to the gallery. Still have three more on deck and two conversions behind that.  So, I still have not re-activated the link to request schemes. Hopefully I can within a week or two.

22 March 2004

Added a two paint schemes I completed from requests to the gallery. Completed another scheme that I haven't posted yet and have four more on the drawing board. I've broken the request a scheme link temporarily while I try to catch up. The Web Links page is active and has a dozen or so links. If you'd like to see your link added, drop me an email from the Web Links page (near bottom).

P.S. - thanks to my teammates who signed the guestbook.

19 March 2004

The About page has been listed and I've reworked the Request button, replacing an email link with a webpage. Worked on the Tools and Tips page, listing links and descriptions to some valuable resources for painters.

17 March 2004

I've taken a short break on publishing the website and worked a couple requests; two paint schemes and a logo. If you'd like to see them, the schemes are posted in the gallery and the logo on the custom logo page. I've got one more request to paint, then will get back to putting the finishing touches to the website. You're still more than welcome to request a scheme or logo, but patience will be paramount.

13 March 2004

Added guestbook and custom logos buttons. Added a guestbook to the site. The gallery page has been updated, adding comments, thumbnails, and full size images of the last ten paint schemes I've completed. The custom logos page has been updated as well.

12 March 2004 Site designed and published. Linked to Team LightSpeed's Paint Shops listing. Added all the pages and working on getting them linked together and the buttons/links active.
