  FINLAND
Rally Finland

80% gravel 20% mud

  Keys to Success
Speed is your friend.

Use the break sparingly to slow before reaching a corner.

Modulating the gas to slow down or pull your car around a turn will be a lesson well learned.

Trees slow you down. Avoid hitting them head on or ending up in the middle of them.

General Overview

Wide gravel and mud tracks make this rally one of the fastest in the world. The 'yumps' and cresting long corners also make it one of the most hair raising. The wide roads make this a good rally for drivers to cut their teeth on. Almost any setup with gravel tyres works well but you will probably post the best times if you shorten the gearing and lower your steering sensitivity. Some drivers might choose to lower the suspension which can help absorb bumps and keep the car gripping the ground but go too soft and you will find yourself bouncing and rolling out of control. Try out the different power ratios and notice how the front and rear settings pull and push the car through the corners differently. Once you pick up the basics of breaking and sliding the only thing to worry about on this rally are the numerous trees.

Colin's Photo Guide

Finland's fast gravel roads will often require you to set up for one corner as your tearing through another.

Night shrouds the sharp corners making the forest even more dark an ominous.

You don't have to be the "Flying Scotsman" to get air all over the Finland countryside.

When you're not surrounded by trees watch out for wide ditches and rocky hillsides.

These mud roads handle pretty good when dry...but it is not always dry outside.

Tangling with a roadside tree can put a damper on your day and drop you back quickly.
