Trying to recreate the comic book scene in Max, pretty hard with all the booleaning and such. Reference pic is included. Its supposed to be more detailed than the CB, so dont complain when my version doesnt ahve 2 huge black blobs.

Now this is going to be interesting to watch.

I don't think the hard part will be the modelling. Are you trying to make it look like a comic or trying to make a 'realistic' version?

Either way, the hard parts will be the lighting and effects that go on afterwards.

doing a more realistic version, and yeah lighting is going to be hell, need to get a solemn look to it, might add soem dust or soemthing too.

EDIT: OMG, Max keeps corrupting my files whenever I make a boolean, if I save after a boolean then reload it gives me the error "An error has occured and the application will now close. Would you like to make a save of the current scene?" then I have to revert to a previous save Mad any suggestions?

Booleans can be a little tricky if the data is offset slightly or points overlap directly. Or, if you have too many polygons to work with, or perhaps if the mesh you're working with isn't 'closed' or 'solid'.

I assume your boolean operations are going fine now.

If you get bored with modelling it you can try experimenting with the camera and lighting. The comic cover has a very dramatic angle, you may have to alter the focal length of the camera to get the imposing effect of the two 'black blobs'. The disadvantage to that is that it could also distort your main model at the front, you may need to render objects separately with different focal lengths and then composit it all. It'll give it a bizzare, comic/dream like effect without losing any photorealism or resorting to cartoony modelling.

yep, I'm modelling the rocks and flag right now. The buildings look like they are spreading out.
