Post Posted: 03-26-2006 06:25 PM Post subject: canon Bridge pack

I'm almost ready to release my canon bridge pack, which will change things like sounds, running lights & other little details to make the bridges more like they are on our tv screens.

I just need someone to post the following files here coz i don't want to have to redownload several megabites of stuff that i've already got, just to get the one file to add three lines of coding to.
scripts\bridge\defiant.py (v3.0)
scripts\bridge\excalibur.py (v2.0)
scripts\bridge\excelsior.py (v1.1)
scripts\bridge\nebula.py (v2.0)
scripts\bridge\nx01.py (v2.0)
scripts\bridge\miranda.py (v1.0)
thanks

I've also restructured the installation directories for both ambassador bridges, since when retexturing the TMP one, the tng version would have some tmp style lcars because of a shared file, so i'm planning to release them both in seperate packs, & get the other two (v1.1 & 1.2) removed from bcfiles since this will cause prblems for retexturers in the future, if it's ok with 3rd era team.

On the Intriped bridge, do you know how to fix the lcars texture that was located on the left and right side of the bridge when looking from the captain's chair?

i granted permission for the retextures, sounds changes, coz they are just retextures and have never really needed permission to release, but as for restructuring and repacking of bridge files, that is OUT of the question. especially when the ambassidor bridges are still a PUBLIC BETA.

I was going to finish everything off, then ask for permission incase you wanted to have a look at what this does in more detail.

where did those running lights come from btw? they look kind of familiar.

I used the ones from the miranda bridge as a template, then worked around them to get bigger & brighter ones. If u look carefully at the entb ones, u'll see that they're loosly based on the warp flash since it was the right shade of blue. although i had to watch st6 about 20 times to get the enta ones just right.

just to ensure that its clear.. The ambassidor bridge may not be repackaged. What you can do is include instructions in the readme of how to do what is required for this mod.

Cheers

problem is it requires loads of rescripting - something not all of us can do - so the entc model & textures can be put in a different folder than the tng version, ie
c:\program files\bridge commander\data\models\sets\ambassador bridge
if they both go in here, the texture in the pic will be in both bridges.
Whereas if they were in
c:\program files\bridge commander\data\models\sets\tngambassador bridge
&
c:\program files\bridge commander\data\models\sets\EnterpriseC bridge
the lcars texture can be different for both models

you can pack scripts into the mod, and tell people how to install the scripts and reorganise the sets... it would then just involve a copy of the models from one folder to another by the user. But as its a beta, you cant just repackage it. I will, when the final version is released, ensure it is packed up differently, but for now, it will require the user to copy and paste the correct files in the appropriate manner following instructions in your readme file.
