I have an idea for a part of this mod , how about when your warp core becomes disabled your lcars power down and stuff ... basicly it would look the same as if it was done using the power down/up button but you can't power back up untill the warp core is no longer disabled..

if anyone understands what I just said let me know Smile

lcars are powered by the main power systems, when the core goes offline the computers stay on.

more in depth? hows this, on insurrection when they ejected the core, they were still flyin around with shields up rite, well thats because there are other backup generators for main systems. therefore lcars donot go off when warp core goes off

Post Posted: 03-31-2005 04:27 PM Post subject: Hiding Behind Planets

Just a recap on the hiding behind planets. I've been looking at the idea of making this possible and I think it can be done so it works in QB and Multiplayer Combat. Vectoring, distance, and trajectory of approach (of the scanning vessel) are all factors but not hard coded in the game. I know that physically you can hide your ship from view behind a planet, but making it so sensors can not detect from a certain angle is all that is left to address. I don't know... it would come in handy and I think it would enhance game play. So maybe it would be worth the effort in hammering out the coding for it if it needs to go that far. Any input?

Hate to echo the same thing that's been said to everyone who's asked the same or similar questions, but if you READ the topic (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=read), you'll see that the mod is A) not finished, and B) a decision was made to not release anything else to the public until it was due to a certain member of these boards deciding to copy chunks of it and brand them as his own.

Hate to be harsh about it, but I'm really getting sick of seeing the same questions repeated every few weeks.

Ok, I'm getting sick of people sending me PM's asking me to send it to them. If I haven't made it QUITE clear already.....

THERE WILL BE NO MORE PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION OF THE ALPHA/BETA VERSIONS OF THIS SCRIPT DUE TO AN INCIDENT SEVERAL MONTHS BACK ON THIS BOARD. IF I RECIEVE ANY MORE UNSOLICITED REQUESTS FOR ME TO PERSONALLY SEND IT, THEN I WILL MAKE THE FINAL VERSION PRIVATE RELEASE ONLY AS WELL. (THAT MEANS YOU ESPECIALLY, Admiral_sankey and CaptainJPicard)

And also, please do NOT do what Admiral_sankey did, and ask here, get told no and THEN ask me the same damn thing in a PM. I'm going to start taking a decidedly less friendly stance towards people who don't read before harrassing me over the mod.

wow someone was actually sad enough to steal a mod?
how pathetic.
i hope the borg come and assimilate him.

what you did was great, i'm sure it was a great mod.
Anyway, i'm currently learning scripting myself and hope to be able to completely re-design the power system. Sometimes i think it would be nice to be able to send a fatal power surge to saffi's console just when she's about to get all booky on me. Or perhaps even jettison her into space, launch a shuttle then hunt her down. Or what about putting in a transfer request and selecting another officer like you could do in starship creator, now that would be cool. Ensign picard at the helm perhaps, admiral janeway instead of admiral liu.....

Actually, i'm a film composer specialising in the john williams style and should be able to afford some decent computer programming tools. I'm hoping to eventually turn BC into a completely interactive, fully immersive 3d-starship sim. Sort of combining the best elements of elite force, generations and starship creator with BC to create a fully immersve starship. Hopefully combined wih VR this would be really cool someday.

anyway, i've a lot of music in the public domain you can find some at http://www.mp3.com.au/mattmilne, i'm 18 from ne scotland by the way.
I just thought i'd let my views on that criminal be heard.

anyway the whole engineering department needs a maintenence and refurbishment overhall.
the ships systems just aren't complicated enough for a good starship sim, after all isn't it the gadgetry that attracted us all to startrek in the first place?

Finally I'll get the chance to see how did the original powerdown mod looked like. And maybe work with Madon in releasing a new version of it.
Don't know how much similarities are in our mods.

actually, i was telling him about the bcscripting team and gave him the link to your forum (he has been out of the loop for a while so he isnt all too familiar of all the recent mods and things going on) and i am sure he can help out a great deal with things, being he was on the atp:d team and all...
he is looking forward to collaberating with you guys; expect some posts on your forum (and here of course) from him soon...
(i'll keep nagging him to get on top of things; i'm good at that, ask Mark Razz )

Hey folks!

Jimmy was telling me about the work you've been doing, it's good to see some life back in the community.

If you wouldn't be averse to my hanging around I'd be quite interested in seeing what could be knocked together and see if we can create a combined effort.

I've also got some other projects I was working on that weren't publically announced (ie after I vanished from the scene) based on some of the ATP: Dimensions scripts after the project fell halted and people started to lose interest in BC modding. (Still got the last version of it backed up somewhere, along with the data files)

I did manage to obtain permission back when the team was still together to package up parts of it as addons for standard QB after work on the project proper stopped, which is something I now intend to get back to working on as well, and Jimmy said that you may be interested in collaborating on that also.

Anyhow, lemme know what you think.

Hello Madon I'm one of 4 BCS: TNG.
Again great that you've returned and I'm looking forward to working with you.
Also to get down do business, people wanted original powerdown mod (your version) since it was forbidden by you I had to start on a new version.
It is stable and no bugs I believe but I have no idea what was your intent with this mod. What have you planned to do and I have never seen youir script so I started with improvising now that you're here perhaps we can work on this project first together. I've knocked 2 versions of Powerdown so far and they can be downloaded on our forum.

Welcome back USS Sovereign of BCS: TNG

Well, the original intent of the script was to simply create the basic effect to prove it could be donw, but it got extended after that with the aim of making it into an actual tactical manuever (ie, playing dead), so I started adding to the script to allow for making the player harder to target, and added atmospheric effects to the bridge (ie, dimming the lights, and allowing for bridge designers to provide powered down versions of their LCARS and status displays on the bridge).

After that was implemented, it was also discovered that we could use the same system of scripts to implement further features, which I did, the first of which was allowing for the addition of some red alert lights and effects to the original dbridge, and the second of which was the working shield display that myself and Mark added to the EnterpriseA bridge.

Around the same time as we were doing this, the mod also expanded to incorporate improvements to other bridge functions, and others such as the changed docking routine (it became an ingame sequence rather than a cutscene, and allowed manual undocking from the starbase, I have videos of this if anyone wants to see, or should have anyhow).

Anyhow, the overall aim of the mod eventually became a mission to enhance the experience of being on the bridge view as much as possible, by actually making the displays on the bridge both valuable and usable instead of purely decorative.

Okay since we've done similar mod called silent running. I've adapted the code from that for basic power down.

So far the ship lights turn down, lcars on the bridge shuts down, sensors are disabled, warp engines are disabled, main power and warp power are disabled, only backup power is available.

Dimming the lights can only be done by going to red alert but you need to disable then shield generators and weapons completly, also add an option to shut down cloaking device. At least from my point of view.

But this what you mentioned isn't power down anymore lol

Well if you need any help. Since you're back I won't be continuing or publishing my version of Power Down mod. That would be silly and unfair from me since you originally started working on this. If you want to work together, well that's another story.

It's your call. I only tried to do something that was abanoded long time ago.

I have to be honest, I'm quite flattered that my mod was even remebered after all this time.

I'd be more than happy to combine projects with you, more scripters generally equals better product (Plus Jimmy speaks quite highly of you, and I value his opinion a lot). I did manage to get the alert effect without activating all the shields/weapons/cloak etc in the version I last worked on, although some of the functions ended up quite long in the end.

As you can see, I tend to expand my project goals quite frequently, I'm a strong believer in the idea that if you get an opportunity to make something better you should take it.

Drop me a message on MSN and we can talk about working on it a bit more efficiently.
