Seriously though, with all the brilliant mods out for BC now, there would still be things not possible for the BC game engine like:

Landing on a planet
Making and going through a temporal rift
Making and going through a dimensional rift
Black holes (apprently)
Weapons retrofitted to fire from a deflector dish (probably not impossible but no-ones attempted it yet so I dont know)

i remember people kept asking how to put a texture on a model, not how to create a dimentional rift to throw saffi in and then close the rift with tachion particles (those are useful arent they, i used soem the other day to make a really cool cake)

1) Ship animations done in the same way as bridge animations (export an anim from max)

2) Bump Mapping

3) True Soft Shadows

4) Decent image filtering, not T&L rubbish

5) Flickering LCARS - like on the stock ebridge

6) Volumetric Nebulas (now thatd be cool)

-destroy stars and planets

-self-replicating mines[?] -which cloak when a field of them is complete

-the gravity pull of black holes

-scraping/scratching the hull

-full damage depth in a Borg Cube without basically destroying your processor/card/mobo[?]

-travelling into Saturn's rings like in KA

-'jumping' in walk mode [not that you'd need to do that, but... lol]

-warp core blows up, but doesn't destroy your section of the ship [as the saucer section] after you separate your ship - that is, when operating the self-destruct program I think [can't remember if you can do that or not]

all of the scripters/modders that are actually capable of working on any major scripts are busy with their own major mods soon to be released...
besides, more than half of that which you mentioned is still impossible (and prolly will forever be) for BC...

Any System That I've released has this support, Esspecially Earth, Target List To Date:

Rome, Paris, London, Madrid, San-Fransisco, Starfleet Head quaters and New York..So Far

Turrets that move, or animated turrets for some older ships that use those..

or a point defense laser system for older ships that use missiles, or to fend off fighters


there is alot of things to do yet but alot of people are getting tired of modding for BC or thinking of new ideas..

Since I still dont know much about python I cant try myself...buying books didnt help because I dont understand the relation to the python BC uses and the stuff in a book..I can hardpoint, the rest seems to be jibberish...

As people have found out im in the process of doing some things with my Wing Commander mod that others have not done and it the reason its taking so long to do...since no one else wants to help..

I dont care if its a Wing Commander mod and people dont recognize it as a worthy thing for BC...but when im done it will be and I hope everyone wont be gone by the time IM done..

Another thing that needs to be done with BC, being able to hide in the sun, ive noticed that the sun is hard and my ship will collide with it..thats lame..the sun isnt a solid rock...its GAS, so why cant a ship fly into it?

And Gareth I have an idea for the skin shields thing..im working on that one..might take a while though..

Another one: a cloaking subsystem for single ships, as in a differnt cloak sound for a ship, Example: mleo and I tried to do it but it didnt seem to work right on a Wing Commander fighter I was trying to add the cloak sound to..the cloak sound kept working for ALL the ships not just the one I wanted..

Sure you can - just do exactly what you said but disabled collisions on the planet. You might have to force the atmospheric effect.

Difficult, Defiant has something for KM which does pretty well.

Possible in Immersion but i would need animations. The glass breaking effect is defo possible tho.

If you mean in WalkFX then it's in Immersion. I'm not sure what you mean otherwise.

What Mark Said.. You could pretty easily create an effect simiar to what happens in Startwars BattleFront2 in the space combat, it's not ideal tho. There is always memory hacking too Razz

Possible but hard. It would be possible but you would have to swap the damage textures before you add the volumetric damage - then swap them back.

hehe A higher poly/custom voxel for the cube might do the trick?
