I wanted to open the starsphere.NIF,moon.nif,or the enterprise_firing_arc.NIF file..but milkshape says its a wrong file type!?, doesnt make sense to me since it can open all the other .nifs.

Since it said that I tried to use the plug-in for 3Ds Max 7 that can open .nifs and that didnt work either.

anyway posting a screeny of the error..

I don't believe those were ever intended to be modified (Ent_Fire_Arc) or replaced, since 1 is for the Ent-D Galaxy (obsolete, since it's for Single Player, superseeded by SNS Galaxy and mabey Excalibur)..plus those might be part of a hardcoded NIF set..

Only reason I was trying to open it is because I need to know how to build a realistic space environment for another game entirely(my secret Wing Commander Game in the works! WOOT!) that im going to use my Wing Commander models in.

Only because at the moment my project hasnt really turned any heads and probably wont when its done because as I have said many times before...people just dont want to see any Wing Commander crap in a Star Trek game..or very little do and most dont.

I was thinking star spheres connected through a Portal or jump point connecting to each other to make each jump system..mybe ill install Independence war 2 ,that might have one I can look at since that game is old as rocks and still looks decent and is highly modable.

Gimme a couple of days to find the link to a python decompiler I've used before. I think on the other puter I have that *** (I meant script) already decompiled as I had worked on adapting the galaxy saucer phaser to a model I was working on. I look forward to your WC pack but as much as I'd like to help I'm consumed by a bridge build.

I got NIF's on da brain, man

thats the one, but appears dead.

Anyhow NIF's are tricky, alot simply wont open, but you could try other tools.

Ya thats it it seems but link isnt working...thanks for trying...i think BC should be redone completely to use the NEW .NIF format or someone needs to make a max7 (or 8 or 9 or all of those) plug-in...since my plug-in is for the new .NIFs...

Obviously that wont happen..but I can dream:-P
