hmmm... looks weird somehow although i think that might have something to do with the smoothing. But overall great detail dude!

Is this going to be for bc of just a CGI model cause i looks like it weighs heavy in the polygon department.

I try putting this in the bridge commander engine there wont be an engine left lol, Im adding MORE detail to the front section I want this to be like the best model I do to my abilites. God help me when I try to get the engines and the hull done thats all I can say lol.

Thanks for the encouragement anyways, I dont suppose any of you watch Battlestar Galactica? I think its great its like better than trek (almost) and is just compelling to watch.

Some more detail for the front section, added construction like beams to make the ship appear more rugged and used,

I know what it is. On the actual ship there's a sort of ventral spine, that's partially visible from the front, that once you've got around to adding will make it fine.

And yes, BSG puts trek to shame.

Yeah thats the part thats located under the ribbed neck piece it leads to the mid section of the ship.

Damed right galactica puts trek to shame infact I dont think of galactica as a scifi show It's more of a drama than anything else and relates more to real life than anything else shown on tv at the moment season 2 is a kik in the nuts its even better then season 1 sofar.

I think I've noticed one more thing for the moment. The panels that fill the center ribbing:

I have the orthographs from the guysa that make the cg model for the show you can get em from starshipbuilder.com, but on areas like the tilling and greebles ile add my own ideas and touches, noting that will degrade the model thou cuse I want it too look like the one from the show as much as possible.

Things like the beams on the front they were just an idea I had to make the ship look that little more bulky and cubersome in that area. stil have alot of detail to do in that area actually so be ready providing my graphics card does'nt explode lol.

As for the front area I think ure 100% right on that the tiling groups need to be scaled to fit that area a little more closely.

Heres another update, this time ive redone the ribbing depth to a slighty higer value so the panels show more depth, added some touches on the front section for more detail and fixed the panel spacing on the front angle.

Dont remind me about the rest of the ship lol

Thats gong to be the biggest challenge cuse its so complex and organic looking with industrial type materials.
Ive to do the back and undercarrage of the front section cuse they are pretty bare at the moment then its onto the neck piece which I hope to star tonight.

yup, the ventral spine is much closer to the main body than that. there isn't such a large intermediate area. I'd say it's about a third of that size.

I feel I should add at this point that I'm going to be making a lot of criticism. It's all well meant, and is only intended to help you. I do think it's looking great so far.

LOL for a second I tought that you said "sofar it wasnt looking great" I was about to lunge around the room in angst ripping people to shreds lol. I redid the whole undersection amazingly I think it came out better than expected it was just a case of shaping all the lines so they matched the orthos.

Oh by the way that piece at the back is intentional I need something left over in order to blend it into the main part of the ship, the back piece I left of is actually there its sorta tapered so its not noticeable tho but if you look at a side view it blends into the main hull of the ship leading to the enginerring sections.

If you have the orthographs, that will be fine, but don't forget to keep taking steps back and looking to make sure you've got the basics right. I keep falling down on that kind of thing. And more screen-caps of the ship will come in useful for close up details.

Yeah i keep fouling up on that aswell, lukly Ive got the 1st season on dvd and every frame on disc one with the cg galactica is now officaly stared at TO DEATH lol,

Just know the underside was fixed so I can accomadte the greebeling along that area which is gonna be tricky cuse most of it is pretty distinctive and I cant really afford to make any constructive aditions of my own on that area alone, normally Id add my own touches here and there but that area will be all out "canon" HATE USING THAT DAMNED WORD lol

THAT word should be outlawed I mean all you gotta say is "make it like the one in the show" but we have to make a nerdy word up for an allready nerdy topic lol no offense but its true I mean why make a shortcut word for something that doesnt exist,

But here a mind job for you Im making a 3d model, fair enough but technically It still doesent exist exzcept for a computer file which I cant actually touch or look at without the computers help so does it really exist lol

Anyways back to buisness

Im back in work 2moro so ile get as much as i can done before 5pm and ile work on it on my days off srry but holidays cant last forever lol damn
